Default cam questions..

could someone make me a list of everything i would need for a cam swap..i see texas speed has some packages...besides what comes in their cam packages, what all would i need...i know the oil pump but what else...also i see that texas speed has cam packages for 599.00..with those packages what kind of hp are people making...Thanks

thier cam install packages pretty much have all that you "need"

optional upgrades are the ls6 oil pump, timing chain, titanium retainers and things like that.

as for the hp output.....which cam

something like the TR 224 cam will make about 375rwhp with boltons tuned. something like the Torquer 2 will make over 400rwhp, the Trex has the possibility of making 425rwhp

will i need other things besides the oil pump.,,gaskets etc?..also why would someone get the cam that would make less power if they are the same ...and will the torquer 2 have a choppy idle

Call up texas speed and tell them what you want, they will help you out.

Get an ls2 timing chain as well. As far as choosing your cam here's a good thread for some cam info LINK

get an U/D pulley and belts, I also highly recommend a long bolt for install. Dex cool, oil, cam replacement kit for gaskets. If you're going to do it yourself I also recommend crane cam's valvespring compressor and some dowels to keep your lifters up.

plenty of fluids oil and coolant, brake cleaner also so you can clean some stuff up as it comes off the car. Thread lock would be a good idea also.

ok, when ppl say ill need a ls2 timing chain....are they talking bout the 40 dollar chain or is their more ill need
