Default Factory Tach Calibration....

well i got a auto meter pro shift light about 6 weeks ago hooked it up set to 2 PPR and was off about 150-200 rpm at idle but closer to rev limit in was off almost 2000 rpm called auto meter they told me to ship it back and they would fix it or replace it well i installed my new one today and its also off about 200 rpm at idle but seems to be more accurate with the factory tach higher in the r's
so im just curious if the auto meter unit in just more accurate then the factory tach or if i have another faulty shift light thanks....
