Default mac headers question

With the mac mid length headers, how much different are they from most lt headers hp/tq wise? (I'm looking into getting them with the ORY)

What HP gains did you see when installing them?

Tthe only thing i can give you is a comparison. my friend has a 02 z28 and i think he has the ls6 intake also from the factory and 3.46's. and all i had was mac headders, and the y with the cats and i had 3.23's factory. i smoked him when he was stock (obviously). then he got the slp air lid, slp maf, bellows, and slp loudmouth cat back all at once. when he got this we were pretty much head to head depending on who hooked up the best on the launch. when he got the headders with kitties he smoked me. so i hope that might give you some of an idea. now he had 3.73's and i have all the induction stuff minus the ls6 intake and 4.11's, needless to say i smoke him.

Forgot to mention that the car(99 Z28) came with hooker st's already. Waste of money to get anything less than LT's?

Not true! I gained 3 MPH and 3 1/2 tenths when I put on my MACs. They are decent bang for the buck. I want to go to a LT now but only because I want to max out my stroker.

For a stock motor, Macs are fine. You will loose a little low end with midlengths but again, with a stock motor, it won't be that much. Add a set of good heads or a cam and the LT's will really shine.

I recently installed Macs on my 02 Z28. Last time at the track my best was a 12.67 at around 106. I did the Macs w/ORY, ASP pulley, ported TB and TSP lid (from a Whisper lid) and ran a 12.174@109.7 (1.62). Keep in mind I run a ST3800 stall so low end isn't as much of a concern to me.

For the money, Mac's are a great budget buy.
