Default OIL + SMOKE out of DOWNPIPE= not cool

was driving yesterday suddenly I saw a big cloud on the highway so i pilled over and looked at my DP and I got oil from my DP plus a heavy white smoke .

I have about 1000mi on my turbo and about 68000mi on the stock engine.

I am runnin a breather on my oil cap and still runnin the stock pcv system with blocking some places with nipples ( my freind did all the work on the pcv).

could this be seals? will this happen to a brand new turbo?

I've read about restrictors and how these new turbos dont like high pressure...etc

I am runnin an oil pump feeding the turbo from my valve cover.

any thoughts?

Im not an expert but if the turbos dont like high back pressure and the pcv system isnt free flowing enoguh then you may be pushing oil past teh turbo seals but im not sure it would get as far as coming out of the sown pipe. The only other thing that i could suggest is that your rings may be slightly worn or not up to teh task of holding boost. But like i said im no expert just throwing some idea out there if anyone else has more expirience with turbos please chime in. Best hting to do would be to call a speed shop like ls1speed or somthing that deals with turbo cars all the time. goodluck

Hold on... Do you have any restrictor at all into the turbo?

PCV system and pushing oil past turbo seals aren't necessarily related. Issues with your PCV setup will be seen from oil everywhere in the engine bay, pressurizing the crankcase ect. You need to put a check valve in there to prevent the boost from entering the crankcase. Check the master PCV thread, it has a ton of great info. I have pretty much nailed my PCV setup which I think would work well for any FI car (even though I have a rear mount).

Now, if your not running a restricter or have a faulty check valve in your oil feed line, then you may be feeding the turbo too much oil and thus smoke or pooling of oil. Start with a good check valve. Then try a restrictor (function 7 on ebay sells them).

What kind of kit are you running?
