recharging isssue

Default recharging isssue

ok so here's the deal i just replaced my alternator well my dumbass didnt unhook the battery and arced the alternator on the crank pulley. well exchanged the alternator and got a friends battery now the car isnt charging all the way up to 13 its sitting at the 1/4 mark b/t the 9-13. is there a possible blown fuse or anything? please please help me guys

This is remedial performance tech. There is no fuse between the alternator and battery or alternator and PCM. Did you arch the new alternator or your old one? Old = ohm (measure the condituity) the alternator output wire at the battery positive wire end. It should be a good low ohm circuit, if not it's burned open. New alternator arched = take it back and try again with the battery disconnected. If none of this makes sence to you then take it to a mechanic.

use a multi meter set on volts. hold neg. lead on pos post on battery and other on the back of alt. it should read 0 or very close to it. if it reads battery voltage than then there is open or high resistence in that wire. u also need to check the L-terminal on the alt. for voltage. if none of this makes sense just start the car and put a screw driver on back of the alt and see if there a magnatic field there. if so the alt is charging.

the new alternator was not arced. i took the battery off. i will try what yall said. the reason i posted in here b.c i was getting no reponse and was hoping for something here.
