Default difference in motors?

this may seem like a dumb question but im still new to the ls1's. i was just curious is there a difference between a ls1 in a ws6 vs a ls1 in a firehawk? reason im asking is there might be a chance i can pick up a ls1(with 43000 miles), trans, and computer from a firehawk for 800. looking at the prices of a new ls1 i didnt think that was a bad deal at all for everything

Call SLP they can tell you what modifications they made to the Firehawk for that model year.

The LS1 motor varied slightly from year to year. Little things like injector size, EGR, and AIR.

The only difference worth talking about is that the 01 and 02's came with a LS6 manifold.

I think some of the 02's came with a LS6 block also, the LS1 and LS6 are the same displacement though.

The LS1 motors in the Firehawk and SS cars had no modifications.

I think you forget a 2 or maybe a 3 in front of the price of that eng.

Re'

i dont know the guy personally that is selling the motor and trans but a guy i was talking to last nite was going to buy it and put it in a truck that he is restoring but he isnt sure if he wants to spend the 800 on it or go through the hassel of putting a ls1 in the truck. and i figured for that price (as long as the motor has nothing wrong with it) i almost coudlnt pass it up. maybe the 800 is the price for just him. if so ill give him the 800 so it looks like he is buying it for himself then go pick it up with him.

it never hurts to have another motor sitting around incase something happened to mine. and i know some of you are thinking if something happened to mine why not just build it bigger and better. that has came into my mind and its one of them things that if i have another motor sitting around i can build that one over time. just by a few things here and there and when it is done put it in the car whether mine is bad or not

If there is nothing wrong with the motor then that is one hell of a deal.
