Default Got NE valve spring install tips and trick

Ok, see the Moore Spring compressor tool, and a friend has one as well, wih mixed reviews as to quality but no gripes about performance. Lookign at the pics of the tool in use, I dont see how the valves are being held up? I am used to using a air tank and spark plug adapter to fill the cyliders, is this the case or is there a better/new way with the LS1? TIA. Charlie.

i was under the impression it was to be used w/ the compressed air in the cylinder...its just easier to use than the arms w/ the *** on top

Yeah, not a fan of the screw compressors, hurts the hands too much. But I havent seen or read any detail of whether the air compressor to fill the cylinder is still the method.. Had a friend that changed springs using a wire hanger to hold valves (not cool), I would not want to drop a valve. And I dont want to rotate the engine over to get TDC for every cyl. Easier to use compressor I guess.

jmX and I installed my cam this past Friday. We used both TDC and Compressor methods. Both worked fine, and both had their pros & cons.

I have done 2 cams on my car and 3-4 others on friends cars. I use the air compressor for the valves on all the cam swaps. I think it is the easiest and most fool proof way to do it. There is no guessing about the valve dropping when using the air.
