Paint & Body Work - Blending shock towers.

I have my motor out of my car and want to repaint the engine bay. I was hoping its possible to blend in those shock mount plates into the wheel wells, smooth it all out, anyone ever done this?

Lots of welding and grinding.... as little bondo as possible in that area...

I did it on a 3rd gen once. Just make sure you lay a bead of weld across everything you want to fill. That way there will be no flex that will show up as cracks later on.
