Default need help

bought a heads cam package from speed inc along with other parts to do my ls1 build for my 87 camaro

00 stock shortblock
tfs 215 heads stock deck
.040 cometic gaskets
new ls7 lifters
harland sharp rockers

when i went to install the rockers yesterday I noticed the pushrods they sent me (7.7") were WAY too long, like completely compressing the valve spring to the point it was locking the engine up. I installed a stock pushrod and it went away. Is there a certain length rod im supposed to be using with this?, and if i need to use a length checker, what is the process on these. New to that on a LS1, done many on old sbcs though. trying to get this problem resolved so i can get it put in the car this weekend

thanks in advance
