Default Sum' btches! Looks like I'm deploying...

possibly. I'm an alternate but the primary is getting the paperwork all screwed up sooo, time will tell. (2 weeks notice).

If I go, I get to sport the new ABUs. 4 months somewhere that isn't near the sand box.

At least being in the USAF , you're not going to be in sand being shot at!

Yeah, I got a pretty idea. It's going to be w/ the army and its not going to be close to any of the sandy area. I can't tell really where I'm going, its dooper super secret.

That's most of USAF. CE, SF, PJs, Combat controllers, LRS are now being deployed w/ Marines and Army guys.

That's not so true these days. My career field has a tasking in a not so good spot that involves lots of sand and lots of rounds of various calibers. I haven't had the pleasure of going to this particular place yet, but a lot of my co-workers have and they say it pretty much sucks.

The majority of my friends have at one point or another visited the sandbox...some numerous times. I'd say the AF has quite a commitment since this present war began to sending it's people over there. Granted, they don't go for as long generally, but being an Airman far from guarantees you won't go to the desert and get shot at.

If you do go Bene, we'll definitely have to see you off LRAFB crew style . And Jeff, it's nice to see you finally found your caps lock button .

More power to you but I didn't twist your arm to go ARMY. Stay safe. FYI, more and more AF personnel are going to short tour duty over at the sandbox now just like you guys.

Your point? I'm thankful you guys are over there doing your thing, but that doesn't mean our "4 months" aren't any more important. I feel for you all having to be away from home and loved ones for as long as you are. I honestly don't think I could do it. But then again, duty calls and I would never turn my back on it. Good luck and thanks for your service.

Yeah i agree with ben even though it is just 4 months it no less important than what your ARMY guys do my brother is in the ARMY and he knows that no matter what you do it is all one team effort..........No one is better then n e one we just al have diff jobs. And If i had to do it for a year i would hate it but i serve and do it proudly

That wasnt what I intended when I wrote that. The go army was supposed to be sarcasm as in 'wow, this sucks.'

My bad dude....and yeah, I have a LOT of respect for you guys doing the hard time over there. I'd like the paycheck, but man I thought four months lasted forever last time I was deployed. I can't imagine a year+. Good luck and stay safe. God bless.
