Hey fellas, been off here for a while just moved to Indy
I filled up before i left port charlotte fl and only stopped twice the whole trip for gas and when i arrived i still had a half a tank
I was getting 440 miles to the tank
i thought was pretty good being that i do have some mods(ls6 intake, slp lid bellow and maf, pptb, slp lm1 catback, msd's and tr55's)
thats pretty decent miles for this car and those mods isnt it?
haha i was so proud i took a pick of the gauge
i stopped the first time for gas about 100 or so miles south of atl

Wow, that is good. This should be a sticky for the doubters. sounds like you were getting about 27-28 mpg the whole trip. Good job man, Post that picture up. LOL Glad you had a safe trip.

that is pretty good. With a few intake mods and a better flowing exhaust system I used to get 30+ miles per gallon when I was driving on the highway holding it about 65mph. That is pre cam and gears of course. My buddy swears he got 500 miles out of a tank one time on the way to Floridia.

Wow that is horible, I would check some fuel filters, air filters, and spark plugs, unless you have a huge built machine.

Man I would say so. you will be suprised by how much better that it might feel. here are some suggestions.

Coolant flush
tranny flush
rear end flush
If you are a manual new fluids for the clutch
new sparks and wires
new fuel pump
new fuel filter
compression test
air filter along with making sure you dont have debris on your maf screen. Also spray the MAF cleaner on the MAF wires. and lastly a good ole oil change. Put some good synthetic in there, castrol high milage. and dump some good engine cleaner in the next tank of gas after you do this. I bet you will see a difference.

that is a basic to do list for you. LOL Man I hope you do this. I want you to feel the potential of your LS1 beast and gas milage.
Sorry to :hijack:

The best I had seen since the cam was 25.2mpg going to Bowling Green last year. However, I recently saw 29mpg on one leg of a road trip. Not sure how that happened, lol.

that is sweet. the only thing about that is I would be worried about rock chips and what if he drove over something, you would have been screwed. You were lucky, I would be nervous to ride behind an 18 wheeler. But that is Impressive.

Mythbusters ???. Although it is illegal, many cops wont even notice it if youre on a long road trip or something. I did that almost the whole way up from Long Island NY to Boston MA in half a tank :burn:

The closer you are to the draft, higher % MPG you get. I think it was a 40% Increase in MPG if you were to be 30-50 ft away

I bought my car from Colorado and averaged 29 mpg on the way back to Iowa. This was driving anywhere between 80-85 mph most of the way.

For sure
i'd pay for gas before i'd pay to have my car repainted
I still need to get headers and ory and a tune i'm curious to see which way the curve goes then
best part is my know it all dad told me i'd be lucky to get 16mpg
haha but then again this is the same man who sadly enough calls my engine a 350 and tells me to not worry about a dyno tune and just chip it :jest: man
haha I got better mileage then his 4banger :D
oh yea and +1 for the sticky request

I just got a trip computer recently so I can watch my gas mileage in real time as well as over the course of a trip. If I measure a trip all highway at 65 mph with the cruise control on I get about 24 mpg. This is an LT1 with an A4 and 3.23s. I tried getting behind a truck once, the mileage did shoot up to about 40 mpg for a few seconds but then tapered off. I'll have to try resetting it and then following a truck for several miles to see what happens. I don't think I would make a habit of it though.

I get about 350-400 a tank, depends on how much I rip on her. When I drove it back from Orlando I got mileage like yours just cruising on the highway.

If you really wanna save gas, drive the speed limit. It sounds crazy but it works.
