Default Exhaust Popping

I got a 02 ss and starting to do my exhaust I had stock muffler on it and when I reved it would pop or rasp so I put a magnaflow on it and it got rid of it, but my ? is I am buying pacesetter LT's and thinking of removing my cats is this gonna make it rasp alot or not. Or if anyone has this setup could you post a video up so I would have a idea before I waste money. Last ? is it true you gain almost 50 horsepower with this setup?

From what i hear, Magnaflows are a great choice if you don't want rasp with further mods (headers, no cats, cam, etc...) I would go with Magnaflow if you are getting headers and removing the cats...however if it were me i would spend a bit more and throw on a GMMG exhaust! Make sure you complete the entire exhaust system and add an air lid! But 50hp from those mods you listed is a bit high, i would say probably between 25-30hp max.

would I have to get a tune if I removed the cats. Do the pacesetter make a rasp sound that bad because i really like those headers and the price is not that bad. I already have a magnaflow catback

you wouldnt have to get a tune from removing the cats, but you could use it for the pacesetters...

You will have to do something about the rear O2 sensors. Either get sims or have them deleted from the computer. You don't necessarily need a full tune. I gained 17rwhp with headers(with cats).

The only way to completely rid yourself of lift-throttle popping is to tune it out. You really should tune the car if installing headers and cat-back...or you'll never realize the true gains from the mods.
