Weird sounds in First Gear...

Default Weird sounds in First Gear...

When i am putting my car in first and then let out the clutch my car makes a noise thats like a clunking and it sounds like a warn out tranny mount but i just replaced it and just retightened it...what else could this be? Could the flywheel be worn or warped anyone with info, anything would help

This sounds like the drive train wind-up or lash. Although you may actually hear it in the trans, the lash is a combination of axle /gear/u-joint / rear yoke/ trans gearmesh/input spline/ and clutch spring wind-up.You will always have some lash in this type of system. I f that new mount is stiffer than stock, the clunk you hear could be the result of that. It may not be you have more lash but that you can now hear it.

i got a simular noise in my 98ss, thought that it was coming from the tranny or u-joint untill i put the car in the air and and turned the back tires both directions... comes from the rear end
