Default Help!!! overheating

I was wondering what you guys might think it could be. I started the car up this mourning and start to go and it seemed like it was trying to stall and then at a light it overheated! what could it be?? a head gasket, warped heads???

also, I cleaned the engine yesterday, could it have something to do with it?

Thanks for the helps in advance

there's no reason to assume the worst right off the bat... unless you know something else that you didn't mention. Like for instance, has there been any other heat/cooling related issues present or past?

Is your coolant level low? Are you sure the thermostat is opening? Have you noticed oil in the coolant, or coolant in the exhaust (steam)? There's lots to check before you freak out..
