Default 2002 LS6 heads vs Ported LS1 heads? Worth upgradin

Setup is a 2002 LS6 long block with a freshly added G5X2 cam... what is gonna flow better? LS6 stock heads or a set of ported LS1 heads? Nitrous is going on soon, but no FI of any kind... Would there be a point in upgrading? Main question is: are Ported LS1 heads better than stock LS6 and if so how much better or what is the difference?

I was looking more for a difference they offer... like power over the other one

my understanding is, stage 1 ported LS1 heads will make a bit more power than stock LS6 heads. But probably not enough more to warrant tearing into the motor.

why not just get your LS6 heads ported ??

LS6 head will always folw more given the same stage port job. But if I were you, i'd just get the LS6 heads ported.

expensive.. was kinda just hoping I could keep them stock for a bit without losing a lot of power! I just wanna know how they are going to compare to the guys with the Stage II LS1 heads

Im sure with stock LS6 heads given the same other mods you would have a significant loss of hp compared to a Stage 2 ls1 head, Im not sure of anyone who has done this comparison and dyno'd however so it will be hard to come up with hard facts.

Look around at some dynos with just the G5 or G5X2 cam, vs dynos of that cam with heads. I think you're leaving 20 hp at the least on the table.
