Pics of oil return off turbo into pan or timing cover??
Im trying to decide where i need to tap for my oil return off my turbo. Ive gotten a few ideas from some local speed shops and cant decide.
1- Tap into the frt timing cover.
2- Tap into the oil pan.
I think most people are doing the oil pan but where. Is there an ideal spot or does it not matter at all.
Thanks alot
Alex

im at work, so i dont have a pic collection here, but while i was researching for my turbo setup, this is one thing ive looked at alot.
ive come to the conclustion, it doesnt matter if its the timing cover, or the oil pan..
obviously the valvecovers only work if you have the turbos mounted high...
my personal choice was the front cover, as its quite a bit higher then the oil level in the pan, but still low enough for a great drain.

One thing to remember is if your going to the timing cover, you cant place it where david has his bungs unless you have a smaller pulley like his. I found this out tonight. I have mine in the same spot as David and LS1AC-Cobra and had a smaller pulley, went back to stock pulley tonight and it rubs.... So go like Kyle has his set up in a diff spot on the cover, or go in the corner spot and use the fitting like LS1AC-Cobra has.. btw....
what type/brand fitting is that LS1AC-Cobra? Im in a bind right now and it looks like that set up will help me out perfect, please get me some more info, thanks!

I had this hose made at the local hydraulic shop, I used low pressure hose which is much more flexible then high pressure hose, but still holds up to 500psi while high pressure hose holds up to 5600psi put that would be like a multible overkill for a return line
Every hydraulic shop should be able to make a hose with a banjo fitting for you, just remember that I welded a bung to the timing cover which will give the threads more meat, maybe you could use a nut on the inside of the cover, that would bring the fitting right down on the cover so that you shouldn't have any clearance issues even if you would use a Corvette style balancer

whats a banjo fitting? Couldnt you just use a 90* AN fitting?
edit: just realized you wouldn't be able to tighten the fitting due to raised section of cover right next to the hole.

Okay i installed the turbo on the engine on an engine stand to start making measurments for the return. I cant do the timing cover because the turbo sits slightly below the lowest part of the cover. So i think im going to have to do the frt on the oil pan. Does anyone have any pics of a good spot to tap into the oil pan?
