Default G5x3

Well i think i decided on this cam for my 1998 Z28 A4..... I called and talked to them and they said the for this cam the biggest stall to go wiht is a 3200 stall for a street stip car. Just wondering any one eles opioion on this???? Also plan on get the cam kit from them as well. They also said not to wait money on any other heads just to save my money n buy the AFR's. Just wondering what eles i should grade besides the springs, retains, pushrods when im keeping my stock heads....

Thanks
Derek

3200 seems a little small, I wouldn't go with anything lower than a 3600 but thats just me. I had a friend who had that cam package and made some GREAT numbers with it.

You may have heard wrong. A 3200RPM stall torque converter would be the MINIMUM you should run.

That's bad advice. Anything less than a 3200 will feel lazy. 3600RPM seems to be a very common choice for many daily driven performance oriented autos for a reason.

When I ran stage 1 heads and a torquer 2 the car could melt tires at will and ran a 12.01 at 114mph in the 1/4. I have always ran a Vigalante 3200-3400 with 3.73s and that converter will pull the tears out of your eyes if the windows down. Bought mine at LS1speed.com never regreted it. But some stage 3 Roush Mustangs and a bunch of STIs will tell you 3200s enough!

BS, I ran a 11.49 with the vig 3200. Cutting 1.52 60's, on the stock motor/ bolt ons. A vig 3200 would be perfect for that cam, and very streetable. Sure, it would perform better with a wilder converter, but at the expence of increased heat, decreased fuel millege. It all depends on what you are looking for.

You might be alot happier by waiting, and saving up for the heads, the AFR's are great, and then do the heads and cam at once, instead of waisting your $ on a cam now, just to find out it wont work with the heads. However, the convertor will work with the stock block, and with the AFR's. Good luck.

You will need at least a 3600 stall. I ran a tci 3800 and it worked great,i then switched to a yank ss4000 and its a totally dif beast now . Gears will be something you will have to look at also. It depends on how extreme of a setup you want too go with. Also dont get caught-up in the whole dyno #'s thing you wont dyno as high as the man guys, but will kick there asses from a dig or at the track.

I love my PY3600 Yank with my G5X3, but a 4000 would've been better.

My current mods to my car are : SLp LS6 intake, Pacesetter LT, ORY, 160 therm. LM1 exhuast, cold air intake for my SLP utra Z hood 2400 stall and 3.73 gears.....then i got suspension work...

I want it to be pretty decent from rolls and then from a stop. i just don't want to order the 3200 and the thing sucks i want the power from a roll all the way up top..
