Figured it be worth a shot...

Im selling cars at a Buick Pontiac GMC dealership in western mass....long story short...its a terrible dealership to be working at.

Was wondering if anybody knows of any dealerships hiring service writers or maybe sales people in the marlborough area.

My dream job is to do chassis fab/custom work.

I have an assosiates degree in automotive management, automotive technology, chassis fabrication and high performance engine modification.

If you know of any places hiring please get me the contact info and I can send them a resume. Thanks.

So basically you'd rather be building hot rods?

Hot rod shops don't typically advertise open positions, so here's what you do. Put together your resume, along with pictures of any work you've done. Get out the yellow pages and start looking up hot rod shops in your area. Go to each one and start knocking on doors. Odds are you'll actually find something (a lot of ole timers are starting to open up to the idea of having "chicks" turn a wrench), but you'll probably start off at the bottom of the pay scale. At least you'll have your foot in the door doing what you really want to do.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. I'm working a job I'm miserable doing (heavy industrial maintenance) but have a lot of experience hot rodding as a hobby. So, I've decided that after 13 years as an industrial multicraft mechanic, I'm going to try and get into a hot rod shop. My dream is to find a good acre or two of land, put a house and a shop on it and build hot rods. But, I need to get some more experience under my belt. For example, I know chassis and drivetrain like the back of my hand, but zilch about body work. My wife and I have already sold our house and moved into something less expensive so that we will be financially alright (going from 25/hr with lot's of ot and doubletime to about 12/hr). Just gotta stick your neck out there if you want to do what makes you happy.

Gotta take risk guys!!!

The only way to get what you want in life is to just do it, and go for it....

Hey Trish,

I stopped at your dealership and looked at the GTO for my buddy about two weeks ago. I didnt buy my car there because they came off as a bad dealership. My buddy is still holding off on buying a GTO, but i did post up on ls1gto that if anyone was looking to give you a call.

If i hear of any places looking for someone i'll let ya know.

boosted...your the guy that stopped in with the Black GTO im taking it...well the car is still here. and its not that its a bad dealership its that they focus mainly on Buicks and the older customers that go along with buicks..so the place is just a little bit too old fashioned for me. but definitly let me know if you come across anything. and it was nice meeting you that day, im sure ill see ya around.

So because I am so unhappy living in Mass. I have decided to move back to PA in March. There is a bigger racing community out there and the cost of living is cheaper than here.

So If anybody knows of any performance/chassis shops in the PITTSBURGH area could you please get me their info so I could forward them my Resume. i would also possibly be interested in a Service Writer job. Thanks.
