Army Enlistment Bonus Timeline?
I was awarded a $5,000 enlistment bonus when I signed my contract. I recieved half once I completed AIT, and about $1000 on my second year mark. This means I`m still entitled to 1,500. I`m about to approach the third year of my contract, can I expect any payment or will I recieve it when I ETS?

^^ I agree, remember that bonuses are taxed on a different % than just regular pay.
I signed up for my 6 year enlistment in 1998, I receved $4800 in lump sum.

i got bonus $12000 "19d". i got $6000 after ait when i got to my unit. Then they divided it up in like $300 dollar installments over the next two years of my military career. i suppose they done that to tax the **** outta it. needless to say i really didn't "notice" a $12000 bonus by the time they were done with it...lol...

^^ it's not becuase they want to TAX you more.....it's because they only have FUNDING in that MOS for monthly payments instead of lump sum..
It's all about the MONEY, NOT to tax you more.

I`m not sure, because when I did get those payments, they were taxed. I should have stated that. THE LES said 2500 (the first payment) but I only took home 1800 (net) of that after taxs and TSP. The second payment was a thousand net, but I dont remember the exact figure I took home on that one. So unless they double taxed me, I should be getting the other 1500 (gross) .

Actually it is 28%. I have received 3 bonuses for a total of 75K so far. I still have another opportunity to get one. The rules vary from contract to contract as whether or not you get the full lump sum or half and then anniversary payments. Normally in an anniversary payment system you get half up front the rest divided over however many years you enlisted for on each anniversary you enlisted on except your ETS date. Take your contract by your retention NCO and have them read it and tell you if you have any questions. Best way to find out.

The Army is offering captains one of three bonuses. 25k, 30k and 35k due to the fact that captains are getting out faster than they are promoted. The size of the bonus is relative to their branch. In order to receive the bonus they must sign an additional commitment of three years. There are five incentive options: Critical Skills Retention Bonus, Grad School, Military School of choice (Ranger School, Airborne, Language training...), Branch / Functional area of choice, post of choice. There is a MILPER Message out on this, #07-237. I am looking forward to my 30k bonus. I just submitted my paperwork two days ago. I am going to port my heads and FAST 90/90, Mikronite my T56, rear end gears and cam; and finish it off with a paint job. Vrooom baby, vroom.
