a nice chain and all is good insurance, but if you really really cant buy a top shelf one, the LS2 chain will suffice

If your swapping the pump, the chain is right there ready to come off, spend the $35 and get the LS2 chain.

**** that Rollmaster chain. I attempted to install it, and had to modify the new oil pump, bolts, timing cover and the bitch still rubbed. I took it off and sold it, and I replaced it with a Cloyes hex a just chain. It makes it so you dont have to get exactly perfect and you can move it to the necessary position.

Like you said your on a budget, just get the LS2 and you will have piece of mind. It is inexpensive and it goes right on the stock gears. It is also noticeably thicker than an Ls1. Goodluck!

You obviously got lucky. I too used the supplied spacers and the bitch was hitting on the oil pump where it goes to the pickup tube. I know how to read, it's not that hard to follow directions. Are you sure that your's is not hitting, once I ran into the problem I looked and found that it requires modification.

I'm running a 228/230 with the stock chain. I now have 58k on the clock. Stck chain seemed very good condition and since I didn't change the oil pump I just left it.

used the double roller and a slp oil pump with the spacers and cleared, engine turns voer fine, doesnt hit. something was wrong with yours or some ****. plenty of people have them and dont run into problems

I just purchased the LS2 timing chain for my cam replacement install. For some reason, my local dealer charged me 48.00 for the 35.00 part. Must be the Corvette tax.

If the rollmaster chain rubs, the small gear is not on the crank all the way.
