Default have few ??s ....just bought a 6.0

i just bought a 6.0l out of a denali. it was a 12000 mile pull out due to cold weather piston slap. it was a friends denalis and i personally heard the noise. it wasnt all that bad, as i have heard worse. but i am wondering what to do about the heads. should i port the 6.0s or get some 5.3/5.7 heads. should i change the rods, or just the pistons. i am putting the motor in something to play with on the street with a carborated set up. i am planning on doin a cam as well. it will also have a 150 hp shot of gas or even a 200 maybe at times. i work at a shop and do mostly older style sbc stuff. this is all new to me.

thanks for the help

I did the same thing, so if I were you I'll rebuild it. The rings were bad on mine. its worth doing so. I have a 2002 lq4 Bored .40 over and instead of the truck heads I'm using 2002 ls1 stock heads for the higher compression. Also ls6 intake, cam it up and look out...

Oh one more thing... Keep the truck manifolds and heads if you want to put a turbo on it in the future....
