VFN 3 Inch SS hood
Does anyone have any ideas about how to make this hood functional or if anyone makes an air box or something of that sort for it. Also does anyone make a grill that would fit the opening in the scoop? thanks guys...

Re: VFN 3 Inch SS hood
I think the Hood was designed to work with the LT1 SS hood scoop grill. If memory serves me correctly, VFN decided against including the grill with the hood due to costs. The LT1 grill is quite pricey. I would suggest getting the Lt1 grill though.

Re: VFN 3 Inch SS hood
I dont think it would be a good idea to make this hood fuctional personally. I have this hood, 3" Fiberglass VFN SS hood. The scoop is set way back on top of the intake manifold. If you cut the scoop out and put in a grill the air would do you no good. Since the air filter is up near the nose on our LS1s you would have to fabricate some kind of air duct to route incoming air to the front, similar to the factory SS hood. The problem with this is the hood is so damn light. As soon as you hit any decent speeds the hood be under alot of strain from scooping in air, it could rip the hood bolts away from the fiberglass. Also if you are using a air box it would be difficult to actually route the air into the 1" opening in front of the air lid. I am running the K&N FIPK2 filter with my VFN hood. I like my current setup. I am goin to do a photoshoot of my car next week. I'll post everything.
Good Luck,
