Default Air Filter distance from motor???

Does it matter how far the air filter is away from the motor? For instance, does a air intake system with say 6" of intake tubing make more or less power than an air intake system with say 24-48" of intake tubing?

Seems like the shorter one would make slightly more horsepower and the longer one would make slightly more torque.

Say this is on a LS1 with a typical 224/224 cam.

Never tested it but never seen much of a change regardless of where it is.

does not seem like it would make much of a difference.

the less bends the air has to travel through, the better. but the closer it is to the motor the hotter the air going in is.

i understand what your saying about the length giving more torque but i dont think that would matter as much as say on a hilborn set up but i dont think it will make any difference other than air temperature but the only true way is on the dyno

I don't think it would make much different. As long as thee size of the tube does not cause any resistance to the air flow.

What does make a different is Air Temp, straight flow into the Throttle Body and then into the Intake, and once in the intake the flow of which it takes from the T/B to the valve.
