Quick Question???? When i start up my car and the engine is still cold there is a faint knockin noise until the engine gets warm and then i don't hear it anymore. Just curious of what is going on or if there is anything to do to fix it.

I might be mistaken but I'm about sure that almost everyone here with an LS1 has experienced some "piston slap" which is what you are probably referring to...I know that my LS1 has piston slap on cold startup...correct me guys if I'm wrong...hope that helps man...

Sounds like typical piston slap. What oil are you runnng? Some people say that running Mobil 1 (or thinner oils) causes piston slap to be louder. Maybe try switching to a thicker oil (German Castrol 0W30 is a popular oil used by a lot of members on here) and see if it gets quieter.

i am using castrol high mileage for only 1500 miles to clean it out then i was going to go to synthetic but where coudl i get that german oil? certain website.
