8s with a 347??
How hard would this be? Keep in mind, I have all suspension and rear is in the works and the fuel system will be taken care of. And the car weighs about 2900lbs. I wanted to go more ci, but it doesn't look like that is going to be an option over the winter. So I am re-working the motor that is in it for forced induction. Would this be easier with gas? I am assuming not. I just don't want to go with gas because it is getting so high around here. 75.00 to fill my 15lb bottle!!! That is going to add up way too fast. Thanks

Harlen did it way back when. I think he was spooling incons pretty high though. Ltlhomer also did it with twin t67's I think. I'd guess $10k-$15k should be able to get it done.

Both cars were LS1's. ltlhomer bought Harlan's turbo kit. Harlan's car was definitely a 347. I think ltlhomer's was, too, but I'm not sure. Both of them weighed more than 2900 pounds.

10-15K for what
Harlan and LT1Homer both used the exact same twin turbo setup, they also ran pretty large solid roller cams and high RPM. If you have the smaller CID you need more RPM to move more air.
Its more then possible to do obviously, just most opt for the bigger CID as opposed to 8000rpm But the 8000rpm route is probably easier on head gaskets if thats any relief..

Procharger is what I have in mind instead of turbo. But I am not ruling out turbo. I have access to a 408 l92 setup but I was just curious if I could get it done with the 347.

Its not THAT hard to do really, my junk I threw together in my garage is close and if making an 8 second pass was a priority I would have done it by now. But I wont give up things like power steering/brakes, stock hood, wiring and I hate fixing the thing so I keep it tuned very safe. So I pay the price by being slow.
All depends on your perspective on the whole thing, only reason a I keep a 347 in this car is out of sheer laziness. Its there and it runs fine so I see no need to replace it or try to blow it up just yet, has nothing to do with trying to run x.xx with xxx CID. I highly doubt anyone will ever run as quick as harlan did on a 347 unless NHRA comes up with a comp eliminator combo that would favor a 347 CID, 3250lb FI LS1 setup.
But if you have a nice 347 no reason not to use it and try

I think Harlan's record will hold for a long time, because you'd either run twins or a light car with an 88 or more likely a 91 to get there. But most folks shooting for low 8's tend to be running more cubes, and there is no class that incentivizes folks to run stockish cubes.

Yea, lets not forget about getting the car to 60 foot.
If it were that easy everyone would have done it by now

I went 1.35 with my old TCT converter/ 3450 raceweight/ September/ 680rwhp/ 18psi leaving off the transbrake. My guess is that if I had had time to mess with that combo more, like the tune, and pulling weight out, it would have went an easy 9.25.
