Default Oil Cooler

How many of you guys are running oil coolers on your daily drivers, and where are you putting em?

i have one...

i used a sandwich cooler from Canton... then mounted a plate type cooler in front of the radiator. drops temps from 230* to 195*... the sandwhich adapter has an internal temp spring which will release the oil into the cooler once it reaches 180*..

Was it a pretty easy install? How did it help your overall engine temperature... Did you notice a difference?

My main question is that I have a fluid cooler that is 17inch long, 7 1/2inch tall and 1inch wide with 6 rows of cooling that is a tube and fin type. I originally used it as a tranny cooler... Do you think this work well for an oil cooler?? My main worry is that it is too big and I will lose pressure. Any informative tips on how these work may help me out to..

i probably wouldnt use that type of cooler for oil.. you really need like a B&M plate oil cooler or one from Canton or Mocal. oil temps dropped by 30-40*.. you wont notice anything as far as performance gains.. it just keeps your oil cooler.. i only have one for the odd days i go out for open track days at the local road racing course in SLC. My cooler can hold just under 1 quart of oil.. the lines hold the rest of the quart. I havent noticed any loss in oil pressure with mine.

I have since removed my system due to im selling my car at the moment and not too many want an oil cooler. So in the next few days or weeks, whenever my car sells.. I will have a sandwhich adapter and my cooler for sale.. you'll just need to get your own 5/8" hose to run to it if you are interested.

I am planning on doing more and more track days here so I am thinking it wouldnt hurt if I got one. Just shoot me a PM when you are about to sell them and we will see what we can work out. Thanks for the info, I appreciate the help.

tranny cooler dont flow enough fluid because of smaller tubes, and you may experience oil starveation
