Default Gmmg

How is it that the 380 hp GMMG car makes it's power with these mods? I cut and pasted them from the site

* 380HP/400TQ Package
* Cat Back Chambered Exhaust
* All New High Flow Air Box Lid
* Performance Edition Air Box Lid Decal
* Progressive-Rate Eibach Lowering Springs
* Slotted Front & Rear Rotors
* Red Powder Coated Brake Calipers
* All New Grille with 1969 SS Emblem
* Car Numbered on Windshield & Rearview Mirror
* Mobil 1 Oil Fill Cap and Decal
* New Front Bumper Stripes
* Black Rear Tail Light Panel
* Cloisonne' Emblems on Tail Panel and Fenders
* Numbered Dash Plaque and Key Fobs
* Fitted Red Car Cover with Logo
* Rearview Mirror w/Compass/Temp/Auto Dimmer
* Silver Faced Gauges with Logo
* Power Antenna
* Short throw Shift Stick
* Black Hurst Shift Ball

The only power modifications I see are cat back and lid. Something doesn't add up. Thanks

LOL good question. maybe the power antenna and the filler cap and decal is worth 40 hp.

I would have to assume they are talking about flywheel HP.

Many stock ls1s make 360-370fwhp in stock trim so that is about right. Hell, just take a look at GMs ls1 crate motor, it is virtually the same that came in f-bodys and makes 400hp.

yep, let it breathe a litte and throw a tune on the dyno, 380 at the flywheel is no problem

This has been asked many times by many people (including myself). The answers ive heard range from it representing flywheel hp as discussed above, to owners of these cars claiming there are "unadvertised" goodies in the car that make this power.

Ive heard people say that there is a slightly different cam in them, but ive been around some blackbird cars in person and they seemed to idle like stock? If this is true, a lid, catback, cam and tune could certainly put them at or beyond 380 at the flywheel, however im not sure if this is actually true.

Yeah, I think your right about it being at the flywheel. At a 15% drive train loss, that would put a 380 horse car at 323 at the wheels. I think that's definitely reasonable. It's just that 380 sounds impressive.

Stock LS1s make 345-350HP. I took a look at GM's 2007 LS1 crate motor too, and it also makes 350HP.

It's gotta be at the flywheel.

A full exhaust, I can see. But, with just a catback and lid, there's no way there can be a 30HP/35TQ increase... unless there's something not mentioned.
