After your cam swap, did your car run?
Well I just finished my cam and 241 head swap and I started it up and it ran actually pretty good. Then once it warmed up I have to give it gas to keep it running. The cam is a Comp Cam xer 230/230 .591/.591 lift. I have to drive it over to my uncles house so i can throw in my stall, then I'm off to the tuners. Of course I started it up with just the headers on and I forgot and it scared the **** out of me
I was just curious on what your results were. I just think its a little odd that it actually ran by itself and then all of a sudden it needed assistance.

mine fired up and idled like it did from the factory haha with a bigger cam, id say the o2's is whats throwing it off once it gets warmed up ya know? you need some exhaust on there it might learn its idle it took like 50 miles for mine to really drive streetable i was very suprised with the results..

just fired up my ms3/243/LT headers 2004 GTO a few days. Scared me shitless the first time I turned it on, open headers in a garage is scary loud lol.
Mine idled by itself for about 5 min, then when I gave it a little gas it died. And have been having trouble keeping it idling, but its normal. Just gotta get to the tuner.

This guy I know said dont install a stall at the same time as my heads and cam. He said it would run like ****. Is this true? I told him, "How the hell would I drive it to the tune then?"

I opened up the hole in the throttle body blade a little to increase air flow. That made a huge diff in how the car ran at idle and off idle. I'm not sure this is the prefered method of getting them to run better with a larger cam, but I've read of other people doing the same.

yea i've definetly read in many LS1 performance magazines/books that drilling a hole in the throttle blade is an effective way of preventing horrible idle..it's a common sense thing for sure..I'll prolly do this with mine, as I'm putting an F13 in mine here this wknd.

Pretty common issue actually. Most cam swaps will start and run for a few minutes because they are running in open loop until the O2 sensors get warm. Once they are warm the car tries to go into closed loop mode and the stock tables can't make enough adjustments to keep the car running well. That is what you need tuned.
Don't drill the TB, its an outdated method. If you have to do something to get it to idle, adjust the set screw on the TB. But set it back before tuning.
As far as driving it untuned and with a stall it will be difficult to do, especially at stops but can be done.

i vote no on the drill mod and maybe adjust it to crack it open a little more, ive heard of some other people making a leak from the pvc, but i wouldnt recommend that either, just have it tuned.....best of luck to ya
