All header installs on an LS1 are a B***h but it is entirely possible to install Hookers yourself or with the help of a buddy w/o a lift. Heck, my name is also Nathan and I plan on installing Hookers with a buddy on jack stands in July

expect to break some collector bolts, I did, I took out the passenger side stocker with the head on but the drivers side I had the head off, I've got some new Hooker shorty's thats going on when I put it all back together and I originally planned on putting them in first then the heads on but if I can do it after so I have room to tighten bolts then thats the way I'm goin, you got the shorty's too?

No, you do not have to take the heads off. Depending on who you talk to, what you put in, and whether you go from the top or the bottom you might have to take off such things as the coilpacks, valve covers, oil filter, grind engine block excess, remove part of steering shaft, etc.

NO, what I ment was I had mine off anyway, I had to do other work, the pass side for sure WILL come out without taking off head I'll bet money the drivers side will too, you might need to take off the valve covers so you get a little extra room but they should just slide out the top

it's not as bad as people make it out to be, especially if you're saving the $400 that some shops charge to install them. go too ls1hotto.com or installuniversity.com and they have instructions, there are always variations from people to people on intalls and it can also depend on what headers you went with

its not bad, just set a weekend aside, get a friend, take your time, take some pics for some stories down the road and have fun. I have done a couple header installs in my garage and it is very possible. Just remember that, they will go in and beer never hurt!!

Lift and airtools helps out alot. Took us less than 3 hours to remove the stock ones and install the Jet-Hot LT's.

I could not imagine installing LT's on a LS1 with jackstands.
