Default LED Reverse Lights and my version of the LED license plate

I've been battling some electrical issues with the bird and finally got everything all straightened out. I swapped my 18 LED towers to 27 SMT LED towers and....they are freakin bright. I love how they look and no one is going to miss them.

I also installed a LED board for the license plate area. I purchased it from someone on this site that makes them but forget the name. I think it is just enough LEDs where it's bright but not blinding. Night pics suck but it's the best my camera could do. Oh well.

what did you have to do for the license plate light? it looks awesome, but I don't know if I want people to be able to see my plate from that far away.

The maker of the LED license plate board may or may not be a sponsor of the site so PM for those details. This person contacted me and if he is a sponsor then I will let everyone know. All it required for install was removing the factory license plate light housing, cutting two wires and wiring this in. It came with holes predrilled to mount in the same location as the factory housing. Took me maybe 10 min taking my sweet time.

The LED reverse lamps were drop-in replacements. It's as hard as replacing a burnt out lamp. I can do both sides in maybe 5 min. Very simple and they work great. These are from a non-sponsor as well so this will require a PM if you want to know. They are pricey but I like being different.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

As for the license plate being very bright and everyone seeing the plate...It's no big deal to me since I'm not knocking over banks or plan on running from the cops anytime soon . Maybe I'll wire it to a switch lol.

Sweet, I been thinking about asking the guy who made your license plate LEDs if he can make me some DRL LEDs. I bought the 27 LED tower lights for my DRL and they suck, about 1/2 bright as the stock bulbs and about 1/4 bright when the headlights are on.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the DRL lights. Does your housing have a reflector? My clear corner housings have a reflector or reflective material in the lense and my DRL's are plenty bright (actually switch from white to amber).

Pit - They work a lot better in my eyes and it's very noticeable when going into reverse, even in the daytime. As you can see, the housing has a reflector which works perfectly with directional nature of the LED light output.

Do you need like a new flasher unit to support the LED's? Like i was thinking of putting the LED tower bulbs in my reverse lights and my DRL's.

If you use LEDs in any turn signal location, then you will need 2-EL12 electronic flashers.

Inbox is now not full lol. I've been getting a lot of PM's about these mods.

Dual circuit are like a dual filament lamp (think of how your brake lights are on but dim with the headlights on, but brighten when you hit the brake pedal). Each dual filament/Circuit incandescent lamp has a low power filament and a high power filament. The reverse lamps are single circuit since they are either totally off or totally on.

Thanks! Just getting you motivated to get those flashers in so you can show me up. Did you go ahead and replace those? I took a few pics just in case before I buttoned everything up. I finally got everything electrically straightened out with the car.

Yep, they are new housing in fact. I can get a picture of them tomorrow showing how much dimmer they are than the stock bulbs if anyone is interested.
