Default 500 Rwhp Possible?

I am not to knowledgeable about the lsx motors since i started with an LT1 but I am just wondering if i will be able to pull 500Rwhp out of my build.

408 iron stroker.
12cc pistons
L76 intake 90mm tb
42# SVO injectors
L92 heads milled to 65cc chambers and some exhaust porting.
patriot gold springs
custom street able cam
dyno tuned
built 4-l60e with 3600 stall
3.73 rear gear.
stock LSx WP
no ac or emissions

just a basic build looking to make good power.

Without knowing your cam specs, I'd say you will be in the 450-475 RWHP range depending on your cam. I am running a stock 346 with just heads/cam and and my last dyno was 432 RWHP with just a little 220/224 LSA112 cam. Go figure.

from what I have seen I don't think you I'll get 500. Close though. Probably around 475 give or take. With an auto you will eat alot of power through the drivtrian. Not alot of 408s with 500 and an auto tranny unless it has an agressive cam/tuning and large headers.

The "recipe" to 500 rwhp with heads and cam.

Taken from the internal engine section.

Ya i knew cam size would be a factor I plan to have one specked when I am further along so i cant really say size probably will be looking to spin to 6500.

I will probably be looking in the 238-240s range 600+ lift

I figure if i can make around 475rwhp and have a nice torque curve id be happy.

There is a guy on here with a 402 MTI stroker, making 490 rwhp. Nasty car. If you run a mid 240's cam, I think you could do it.

if money was not the issue- the sky is the limits-

if someone can get 500 rwhp out of a 346-like pat.g did-well u would say the 408 should **** it in easy-base on a cube factor-

but by the parts listed above and having a guess on no camshaft specs and no rpm cut off u would think u would be in the region of 450-460 rwhp

my 2 cents

Going over the 500 RWHP barrier is doable, on my little 346 Ci. NA we obtained 511 rwhp AND 455 RWTQ...

Not a cheap way extracting those # from a "small cubic engine", but it was an interesting challenge!!!

Drivability is impressive, mileage is in a positive range, fun is immediate every time I jump on the right pedal...

Car Craft earlier this year took a junk yard 6L short block then put a set of stage 1 heads on and a mild cam. Laid 550 at the crank. So do your basic math for an auto or stick and you get what you get at the tires.

At least, that's what I remember it making in the magazine. Some one let me know if I mis-read.

my quest is somewhere close to 400 rwhp out of my goat, keeping everything stock internal im close and i love it driveability is about at the threshold of not being that driveable anymore
