Default question bout stroker motors

has neone ever built a 396 stroker....and in comparision to a 383 stroker how do they do and what kind of power do they make....i have a 383 now and want to do something different any imput would help

just go with a 383....my 396 runs great...it required more grinding on the pan rails, oil pan, the oil ring sits on the wrist pin on the piston, worse rod ratio and its a tight fit with 6in H-beams!! power wise there isn't much differnce....

from what i understand theres a lot more involved than the amount horsepower that comes out of it.

Horse power is a function of airflow not displacement, take the same heads and cam from you 383 and put them on a 396 and peak HP will be fairly similar just at a slightly lower rpm. Reason being the cubes do not dictate airflow the topend does.

You got a setup you think needs more power sink the money into the topend unless the bottomend requires work.
