Default Is it my clutch, hydraulics or trans?

Alright here's the run down:
Brand new 11.5:1 forged 384 stroker with around 2-200 miles
Brand new slave and the master cylinder has 2000 miles or less
LS7 clutch/LS2 flywheel with 2000 miles or less
Upgraded T56 with around 5k miles

Here's the problem:
Starting in 1st gear, I'll stab it and take it to 6900rpms. Then I'll grab 2nd gear and take it to 6900rpms and when I go for third, the clutch pedal is either hard or soft and close to the floor but not quite and the trans is stuck in 2nd gear. This same problem happens when I start off in 2nd gear and run it through and ****** 3rd. After running it through 3rd gear I'll go for forth and again it gets stuck in 3rd gear with the clutch pedal either being soft or hard and close to the floor.

Now here's what's weird, If I pump the clutch while coasting or just let it coast, I'm able to pull the car out of gear BUT the clutch then starts to engage right off the floor. Now every time after this has happened, as soon as I can get it out of gear, I'll put it 5th and go WOT to see if the clutch slips and nada.

It all just doesn't make sense because I am able to drive the car spiritedly through the gears and everything is just fine. It only happens while going WOT through more than 1 gear. Under normal driving the trans shifts smoothly, the clutch engages perfectly from a stop and in between shifts and theres no problems. The clutch fluid is clear, no black fluid. The MC line is wrapped completely and secured away from the headers.

Sorry for the long post but I'm at a loss here as this never happened with my old H/C setup. The only thing that has changed is more cubes/power and a new slave cylinder.

did you do the drill mod- it sounds like you are starving the hydrolics- they have a hard time keeping up at high RPM's because GM put a little bit of plastic inside the master line. By opening it up you get more fluid hence better shifting at high RPM's.

I had the drill mod in mind and planned on doing it, so thanks for the advice on that. I just want to cover all my bases ya know? It sucks not being able to take 1st to around 40mph and then just stab it and quickly ****** 2nd. It's my favorite!

Bump, anyone else have any input on the subject?

Drill mod man. #1 culprit of pedal issues if it isnt done. Do that and you should be OK.

I hate to be negitive but the drill mod most likely will not work.

I've done the drill mod and the symtoms you posted above are EXACTLY the same problems I'm having.

Its most likely not the master cylinder either because I've changed that also. The only things I haven't changed are the slave, clutch, and pressure plate.

I'm just going to get a whole new clutch assembly and call it a day.

If you do end up finding a solution please let me know. Thanks.

try changing the fluid. It sounds like it is reaching its boiling point and not working correctly thus making the hydraulics fail.

Really it could be many different things, I would start off with the dirll mod which will you require you to reflush the hydros too. When I first bought my car it had problems shifting into 2nd when under hard acceleration and fast shifting, when i drilled out the braided line it was ok then.

I disagree. I think the main problem people have, like the OP's problem, is that they are still using the shitty stock clutch. The fingers on the stock clutch BEND at high rpm, which makes for shitty shifting.

I agree the drill mod is a good thing to do.

Well if that was the case then shiftting after the dirll mod would have still sucked.

I have done the drill mod....did not help, hydraulics bled....did not help.

I think my plan of attack is new clutch/flywheel/slave and master cylinder.

Shifting 1-2 is no prob, it's the 3 or 4 that doesn't work.

I am betting the stock clutch isn't made for mods.

Your syncros in the tranny could be worn.

Same exact thoughts and problems as me.

I have a LS6 clutch, which is pretty much like a stocker.

*Update*

I pulled the tranny and replaced the slave. Went out to give her a try and still the same problems. Up next is completely changing the fluid and if that doesn't work, Mr. drill mod is next.

If none of that works, looks like its time for a new clutch. Maybe my LS7 clutch just isnt enough for my setup.
