Default SLP cme polished?

Is there any way for me to polish the whole area of my CME slp tips? like sand them down and polish them,if so what would keep them from not getting stained from heat and moisture from the exhaust? car never sees rain, but moisture does collect on metal during the winter months in a garage unless you have a heated and very well insulated garage.

anyone ever polish the whole outside of the tips? pics?

I've never seen anyone do it. Probably because of how rough the casting is and how hard it would be to keep clean. You would definitely need to sand down the casting to a very smooth finish before buffing. I don't think it would stay looking too nice for very long either because it's an exhaust tip and made of aluminum... Post pics if you try though!

I had my CME tips coated with clear powdercoat...except for the polished lip. The smooth surface is easy to clean.

I have indeed seen fully polished CME tips, but it has been a few years. I have no idea who it was or where the post went...

I had thought about doing that once upon a time, but opted to paint everything on mine black instead except for the lips. It helps everything blend in so it just looks like the tips are floating there. Otherwise, they draw your eye immediately, and leave you with the impression that they are too big since they have so much surface area.

Yep...the lip is bare aluminum so it can be polished, the rest is powdercoated clear for easy cleaning...

What about those aftermarket 2.5 or 3" tips? Do they have any coatings on them?

They are either coated or painted black, but only on the inside. The outside is just a nice stainless steel.

so the clear powder coat helps to keep them look shiny? how did you guys clean up the imperfections in the polished lip on the tips? mine has little pit holes here and there and they are brand new from SLP.

I've seen a polished centermount setup on a Red 35th anniversary SS from florida at the 9th annual F-Body gathering in Atlanta. It looks good. If I can find a pic I'll post it up.
