Default Where are some good points to pry off the oil pan?

Just like it says. I got to the part where I'm going to swap my oil pump and got the 10 small bolts off and having a lil trouble prying the oil pan to come down. Well the part i was prying so far was the front part of the oil pan, but I did some research quite a few people cracked that part and having leaks. I don't want to damage the oil pan or the block.

You also need to take the 2 long bolts out of the back of the pan and the 2 bottom transmission bolts. Don't pry on it!

I just looked at the ls1howto instructions and it does not say to take them out, but in the picture that shows the back 2 bolt loose you can see the bolt is removed. Trust me take them out or you will crack the pan.

You are not taking the bolts out of the transmission pan. The ones I'm talking about are bolting the tranny to the engine. At the back of the pan 2 bolts go thru the transmission bellhousing and into the oil pan(on the engine). If you are having trouble understanding what I'm talking about you need to find someone to help you who does. A new oil pan is gonna cost you 250 bucks and it's not fun to change.

Well 5.3Jimmy was correct!! No need to pry on the oil pan! This wasn't mentioned on ls1howto.com. The oil pan just drops when those 2 tranny bolts from the buttom bellhousing are removed. Was able to remove the oil pump in about 2 min. and now the next frustration. 5.3LJimmy you're my hero!!!!
