Daily driver/road race cam grind on a 114 LSA...
...to replace my TR 224 on a 112 LSA.
Looking for a cam that pulls a little more on the top end without sacrificing much on the low end. Car is primarily a daily driver with road racing in mind. ARE S1 heads, LS6 intake, Grots, 3" ORY, 3.73s, M6. I need something that can idle well, won't stink up the place and has good street manners. For this, I'm partial to a single pattern; I've been thinking of anything from a 226/226 .570 to a single-pattern XE-R 228 all on a 114 +2 or +4 deg. Any suggestions?

I suggest the TR227, but your not a fan of the reverse split cams. I say its worth a good try from the dyno graph someone posed about it compared to the TR224. If not that go with a 228/228 .575

Who offers the 228/228 .575? That's slightly more than an XE lobe, but not quite an XE-R. Speaking of which, I'm now considering a 228/228 XE-R .588 on a 114 +4. Just need to find someone to grind this for me.

228/228//114 will have less midrange and peak higher, like 6400, which might be nice since your current combo probably hits the tires hard and wants to be shifted by 6400.

Comp Cams does custom grinds for no extra charge above their normal high price.
