heads cam
ok im thinking heads cam, i want the ls6 243 castings ones, do u guys think i need to go bigger than a ls6 cam , i love the fuel mileage and power of my engine, but i want just a lil more low end power i dont want to get so much power that i need to upgrdae clutch, tranny, rear, stub shafts and what not id liek to keep close to stock driveability mileage but have more power so shoudl i do ls6 heads and cam or do something more radical, if i can pull 40 rwhp out ls6's im sure ill be happy with that

LS6 cam is a waste of time. There are plenty of choices out there where you can keep your stock like drivability and make more power. People have gained 30-35 hp from jut the head swap.

heads
i may just do heads, then i just want a lil more power, but next year ill prolly want more lol, why is the ls6 cam a waste, cause the power to cost ratio? or does it not make much power?

Heads without a cam is stupid. Trust me, I have a set of ported and milled 243s on my car right now with the stock cam. I with I would have just done the cam when I did the heads, it would have been so much easier.

If you want a smooth, near stock like driveability, but more power; Id say go for something like the TR224-114 lsa. Very good street maners, good low end power, and will make your car scream if you ever add those ls6 heads. Just an option.

If low end power is what you want then get something like a tr220 cam. It's small enough to make killer low end power, and big enough to make nice power all the way to 6K rpm's.
I'd personally go with any of the ported 5.3 heads (stage 1.5) out there over the 243's. The smaller runner should help support more power down low.
Also, 3.91 gears (if you don't already have them) will really wake the car up, and being that you have a 6 speed you won't notice much (if any) change in fuel mileage.

You could go with a 224/228 on a 114 lsa and keep almost stock drivability, it would be easy to tune and you should gain about 40 rwhp with the stock heads and if you want to do heads later it would be a great choice and it would give you that low end power your looking for. I am considering buying this cam and i've heard alot of good things about it.

I have 243 casting heads and the TR224-114 cam, plus headers and the usual bolt-ons. Once it was tuned, it indeed has nice street manners, yet packs a lot more punch. A lot of people don't even realize I have a cam.

I just modded my 04 M6. My philosophy was, if I was going to tear the car down to mod it, I only wanted to to tear it down once and get everything other than minor bolt-ons done at once. Took me 4 days after work.
Only mods done were:
-K & N cai
-Stage 2 243 heads
-Kooks LTs
-TR 224/224 112 cam.
no ud pulley
no FAST
no ported TB
stock catback
Car went from 281/303 to 383/372, and I know I left a little bit on the table.
Cam is so mild I wish I would've gone a little bigger, like a 228/228, 224/232 or at least a 226.
Even with a 112 LSA you can hardly notice the car is cammed. Give some thought to a slightly larger cam.
