Alternator Help! I am upgrading my alternator on my 97 LT1, but I need to know what the original alternator puts out in amps! I have NO clue...lol. I am going to put a medioker sound system in her and dont want to sacrifice any power, so I am goind to add an alt with more amps, but it needs to fit the stock bracket on my LT1...HELP??!!

i think they are 140 amps. call your local advance or auto zone they can tell ya. as far as a after market unit with more amps. i would go into the stereo section and ask. they would be more likly to know.
