Default 98 Corvette wanting 99 computer

I was just curious if I can do this. I have a 98 corvette and I was thinking of buying a 99 TA computer and engine harness. I'm putting in a 408 and while motor was out I figured it would be pretty easy to just install the 99 harness and pcm. Will this work or is there more to consider.

Do you have a 98 or 95?? If you have 98 go onto the corvette forum and do search. There was a guy that did this not to long ago. He just switch the pcm. Its all about redoing the pin setup. The guy said he did it in an afternoon with a buddy. Looks easy just have to label all wires as you pull them out and replug in to the new conncector.

He posted that on here too...I read it...But if Im already going to have the motor out would be a lot easier and fool proof if I can get away with just changing entire harness. I have a 98 C5, and im getting a 99 TA harness and computer.

you will need the harness from a vette, since the TA does not have drive by wire. I woudl just do the pin swap, and personally, if possible, I would do this swap, before you pull the motor out of the car, (much easiler to troubleshoot if there is an issue)

I'm the buddy. And I have done this multiple times with different applications/resources.

It is easy if you use your exisiting 98 vette harness. Very difficult if you try to employ the Fbody harness. For starters the vette harness is physically the right length to do this endevor- the Fbody is going to come up short. As mentioned before in this thread, the drive by wire characteristic is going to be a issue as well. The shortest distance btw to points is a line, take it. Measure twice, cut once.
