Sitting at a Traffic Signal, Minding my own Business when the guy in front decides to backup. Wham!!! Must of been 10-15MPH. Anyways, he was in a Toyota Tacoma v6, lifted. talk about a hard hit!! Airbags did not deploy which was nice, but they still totaled it. Insurance Company stated it was going to cost right around 7K to fix. Car Has 113K on Odometer. They want to give me a pinch over 9K as the fair market value. I really loved that car!! 21/22MPG back & forth to work. Once, I got 29.5MPG going to Southern Calif from the Bay area. A local buddy in the Neighborhood wants me to buy it back from the Insure.Co and he'd give me the difference to slowly bring it back to life. Right now, I,ve pulled a loan out and looking for a clean, 02 SS/Firehawk/GTO. I'm struggling not to buy a WRX since they don't look comfortable on long trips. The GTO's around here are hard to find, and if one can be found, they want near 30K. I just don't have that kind of credit to venture that high.

Damn you GM for killing such great cars!!!! These babes are getting harder to find everyday.

I guess it was just the Shock of what happened that kept me inline. Pretty Scary experience getting hit. Anyways, There are things on this car i want to take off. If My Neighbor can't take it, I want My Red Top Optima battery and Strut Tower Brace. I know the Stereo is fair game to take. Is this O.K????
Do they really care if the Battery is missing????

Just take the money, and forget about the battery, strut brace etc... I've bought totaled cars back with the good intent of parting them out, and unless you have a bunch of people lined up for the parts, plus the TIME to do it :gruffy: you will end up calling pick-a-part to haul the POS away.

Take the money and start over. Glad you are ok.

No offense, but you're stupid if you don't buy that back. You could have everything fixed for under 2 grand.

All it looks like is...
new headlights
new hood
new bumper
new core support
possibly new radiator if punctured.

Buy it back, part it out. Don't just throw away money.

They said they gave you 9 for it?

Buy it back, use the money they gave you for to take it to a shop and have a new core support welded in. If the radiator's damaged, upgrade to a nice aftermarket one. Get some headlights off ebay, and then find a front bumper at a pull a part. Get you a nice hood. Then use the rest for a nice heads/cam package. Possibly a turbo kit.

I honestly think that this could be one of the best things that could have happened to you.

Forget buying it back. Make them give it to you with the 9 grand included, then part it out. Selling the parts that are good even for super cheap you can still make $5,000+ and now you're much closer to covering the cost of a nice replacement.

Hell, that doesn't look bad at all, my dad and I have bought lots of salvage cars from the auto auctions, many a lot worse than that, and put them back into working condition. If you were closer to Chicago, i'd even pick that thing up, damage looks light. Anyway, good luck with everything

:stupid: That's what I'm saying! :burn:

What ever it takes! Get it back! They're basically giving you 9g's to fix a car with 1g of damage.
