Is the EGR setup on the 98-00 all the same? I gave mine to a friend that needed it to go to the state ref here in CA and never took it off when he wound up trading it in for a truck. Im looking at buying one so I can smog my car for my registration but I've never really thought if there was a difference or not. Thanks for any help. If this is the wrong section im sure one of our great moderators will put it in its needed place.

Yes they are the same. You probably won't need it unless you have a visual inspection and the guy knows what he's looking for. If your car is running properly, it shouldn't need EGR to pass the emissions.
EDIT- course I'm from texas, and I have removed all emissions equipment from my car. ALL of it.

No they are not the same. 98-99s use the same piping and the 00s use their own unique piping. Reason is the exhaust manifolds are different from 98-99s and 00s. The pipe connects at a different position on the 00 exhaust manifold. The electric operated valve that bolts to the piping is the same on 98-00s.

thats what I thought. Otherwise the LT's that have EGR hookups wouldnt be specific to the 98-99 and 00
