Wheels & Tires - The stickiest tire poll.........

Lets hear it. What tires do you prefer to drag with? I'm running 15x8 Prostars with 27x10.5 M/T ET Streets right now, but am thinking about trying out a pair of 28x11.5 Hoosier QTP D.O.T.'s. I need something sticky...I'm running about 475 to the wheels with the help of a 150 shot of gas, going through a T-braked TH400. Please keep in mind, they have to fit on a 15x8" wheel and be D.O.T. approved. And no, I will not use Nittos.

I say stick with the mickey's unless of course your having issues with them. If its not broke don't fix it :burn:

et street radials hook pretty damn good

Let's put it this way this topic will always be debatable but, I have ran MT ET streets and Hoosier QTP and now Hoosier drag radials. There are not a lot of people running these yet so you probably won't get a lot of feedback so here is my 2 cents. My car is making good horepower 468RW NA and has dead hooked on the street with these tires. I even sprayed the car in second gear on the street again no wheel spin. They are a very soft compound tire so don't expect a lot of miles out of them.

I've ran et streets drag radials, et street slicks, bfg drag radials, and nittos. I tried et street drag radials 2 times. They were ok but would swap my drag radials out for my et street slicks at the track (ran et street radials as my daily tire and et street slicks as my track tire). I never ran a better pass on the drag radials, the slicks were a tenth quicker and never ran slower. I ran almost the same times over and over again with the slicks, drag radials were hit or miss times varied a couple of tenths depending on track prep. That being said i've never tried qtp's but know a lot of people who swapped out there et street slicks for qtp's and they said they wouldnt go back to et streets

I have had nothing but good luck with the MT's.

Any kind of slick with a decent sidewall will work pretty good.

Well, I'm still driving the car to the track...about a 30 minute drive, so I'm trying to keep them DOT approved.

That's what I though after posting. Seeing as how all of your options were DOT approved.

I vote the Hoosier drag radials. When i first got them i was launching out at 3,000 on the street w/ no problem. W/ the mods on my sig.

I had et street (non-drag radial) and they hooked really nice but you skiied all the way to the end of the track. Just felt like you were on ice the way the rear sways all over the place.

I just bought MT Et Street drag radials now so hopefully this will fix my problem

did you have skinnies up front with the et street slicks not drag radials

Had two pairs of ET Street DR's and they worked good for me on the street ... no track experience with them, but, I do see a lot of 9-sec cars with them at the track and they seem to work great for those cars. I believe both Dave (Caveman) and Paula (LS1QUEEN) run them ... UNLESS THAT IS HER HUSBAND'S CAR IN HER AVATAR.

Why not the ET Drag stiff sidewalls?

This thread is kinda old...I ended up going with the 275/60/15 MT drag radials, and have cut a few 1.37 60's on them. However, I just went up to a 10" prostar and plan on putting a pair of 28x10.5 MT stiff sidewall slicks on them.

You wont be able to spin the MT Drag radials... I had them on my 500rwhp 03cobra, that produced 490rwtq at like 2500rpms and them suckers dead hook alll day... best gripping tire I have ever expereinced

i have m/t et drag radials... they work great no question about that.... but i hear great things from the hoosier DR's i think im gonna try them next... i hear they have softer tread then the et street radials

The Mickeys have a stiff sidewall and work great with cars with suspension work where the Hoosiers have a soft sidewall like a slick and work pretty much anywhere.

Maybe you need more suspension? A 28x11.5-15 Hoosier will offer you more sidewall, and a bit more section width, and a tad more tread, compared to27x10.5-15 you have now, or even the M/T 28x11.5 which is actually has less tread width. The extra inch of sidewall will help out though. Have you tried diffrent amounts of tire pressure?

Like I said a few posts back...this thread is kinda old. I have been using the M/T 275/60/15 DR for a while now and cut low 1.40's all day with them. I have been as low as 1.37 60' with them. I'm gonna try something a little different now with some 15x10 Prostars and a stiff sidewall 28x10.5 ET Drags.

My suspension, however, is just fine. I've got all the goodies.

Is it only 28x11.5-15 Hoosier that has 1" more tread than same MT?
28x13.5-15 has same 11" tread as 28x13.5 MT Streets...

For some reason M/Ts 28x11.5-15s run really narrow compared to other 28x11.5-15s such as Hoosiers. I dont know why.
