If I remember right putting a LT1 intake on a regular SBC is a fairly big job job and takes quite a bit or machine work.

Remember that the LT1 is reverse flow cooling, the SBC is not.

Do a yahoo search or something plenty of people that have done it.

Its also the bolt pattern on the intake.

Note how most guys running an SBC intake have to have it machined for the LT1 bolt pattern.

I would say run a Victor EFI intake with the fuel injection provisions already on the intake and then do some sort of elbow with an throttle body.

Tony.

Run a mini ram intake with a TPI system, it would be WAY easier and look alot like LT1. Just my opinion.

That is stupidly expensive though. TPiS thinks their parts are made of gold.

As for the original poster, www.lt1intake.com is the site you need to read through several times. It lists everything you need to know. I would upgrade the cam and heads if you already haven't to take advantage of the intake. Plus you need the 85+ sbc intake manifold bolt pattern for it to work anyway.

yeah, i have explored alot of options, anything that bolts right on cost more than i can afford since i am a college student, that isnt an option. and i could drop sumthing like TPI or TBI on it, but my car would suffer in the upper rpms. i have a fairly stout motor, at least for it being my daily driver, probably around 400 horses. and the tbi, and tpi just cant breath enough for what i need. and i am aware of the machinig work on the lt1 intake, i have to make provisions for a distributer, and redrill the center bolts on the intake. but other than that the lt1 intake supposedly fits.

Well, the TPI will work in high RPM with a mini ram but yea, it is pricey, but it is not like a set of bearings, you can get them used.

I did the conversion a long time ago when John Millican was still running LT1intake.com. Not hard at all, it was a breeze. However, if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with a Holley Stealth Ram, especially with emissions not being a concern for you. Stay away from the MiniRam....

would buying an aluminum intake and having injector bungs installed on it be a bad idea? i think it would be my cheapest option.

I hope your doing your research, i was under the impression that LT1 TB's were oval. That might cause a problem for you.

yeah, i have decided against the lt1 conversion. but i dont think i can change the name of this thread. oh well, but i still am trying to figure out what to do about this EFI conversion. i think the stealthram or miniram and those type of conversions are definately out of the picture because of their prices. so i think my best option is taking a sbc intake and haveing bungs pu on it, or getting one already setup that way. and just building up my own setup. but the issue there is, i have no idea what size injectors to use, and i dont know what to do about the ecm/computer/whatever.

Mega squirt for your efi.. if cost is an issue.

I got a hogan intake on ebay for 500 looks alot like a lt1 intake but it is diff. I would watch for a efi intake for a sbc on ebay doing the efi conversion to an intake will cost you approx 500..

There is a few 23* off the shelf efi intakes..

Stealth ram is only 309 from summit and can get the t/b, injectors and ecu fairly cheap I amagin.
edelbrock has one as well..

Yea, the stealth ram is cheaper than a miniram will ever be.

Check this out. https://ls1tech.com/forums/small-block-big-block-chevy-specific/622573-lt1-gen-i-conversion-complete-pics-vid.html
Looks to me like if you had a intake and you put LT1 fuel injectors in it then figured out something for ignition. That guy used the Bailey LT1 to LS1 coil conversion. Then you should be able to use a LT1 wiring harness and computer I would think. I'm not for sure though. Link to coil conversion http://www.bailey-eng.com/LTCC.html. If you do this and get it to work let me know what it took or make a thread. If I was actually knew what I was doing when it come to building my own setup I would try it but the funds aren't very supporting right now. Good luck.

that is a really good post, thank you for that. thats similar to what im trying to do except im trying to stick with my hei as to save money cause like you, im little short in the funds department. and that adapter he has sittin on top of the intake manifold is EXACTLY what ive been trying to find, but they are wicked expensive and i only found em at one place. i guess ill have to try and fab one myself.......uh oh, scary.
