First off: What is with all the 1 7/8's interest in the last 2 hours? There are 5 threads about it on the first page.
Anyway, I would suggest 1 3/4 unless you are a 382+ CID for starters or if this is a strip car that see's the street on occaision. Are you talking a little bigger than 1 7/8? Cause that is WAY too big. Your scavenging will be a thing of the past. These are aluminum small block motors! BBC's and SB2's are the only chevy motors that need a 2" primary!

Truth be told you would have/make more driveable power in the normal operating powerband with a 1-3/4 length longtube header.

when you are on the bottle you will be flowing more exhaust but if you are already have a set of headers i would not worry about going to 1 7/8. the only reason i would change them would be is if you are going to go with a big cube motor.
