Default Need Opinions On Adding LS6 Heads To This Combo

This is for a friends car that I do most of the work on. I posted his dyno #s last week after his LS6 cam install. He is thinking about adding the stock unported LS6 heads to his car and wants to know what kind of improvement they would give him. We don't want to use the ported/milled .055 LS6 heads because there is a good chance that he will be adding a blower in the near future and we think the milled heads will raise the C/R too high for a blower. Wouldn't that raise the compression to 11:1? I guess what I'm asking is how much better is a stock LS6 head over a stock LS1 head. I can get him the stock assembled LS6 heads for $1585 including tax from a local dealer. Are there any other heads in that price range + no core charge that would be better? Here are his mods and dyno #s so far.

You'd be better off buying some stock cores and having them ported, IMHO.

Does anyone know what a stock LS6 head flows?

stock LS6 heads are worth around 15 hp over stock LS1 heads. They will raise compression to 10.5:1.

The LS6 heads come with light weight valves and new LS6 springs too.

Rumer has it that the ported SDPC heads can be obtained without milling but when I bought mine, they said no. Since they are ported by Lingfelter you might contact them and ask if you can get a set that is not milled...

I looked into thick head gaskets and flycut pistons; neither is a very attractive alternative to lowering compression...

Un-milled LS6 heads at $1500 for a 15HP gain seems like a bad bargin to me.... besides, 10.5 CR is high for a blower application... you may want to reconsider this idea...go with a blower or LS6 heads but not both...just my suggestion...

That is what I was thinking.
