Can these lifters be used as stock replacements? For example, using a stock block stock mill heas, stock rockers and stock length pushrods, is there any special instructions on using these lifter. Any difference in the preload over stock. Can i still torque the rocker arms done the same?

You can use the lifters, but a different preload must be set.
0.002-0.003 This according to Comp (warm engine)
0.010-0.011 This according to Comp (cold engine)

Talking about the rocker arms, the only way you can go witht them, is torquing them at 22 pounds, there is no other way.

If you are going to be using the R lifters, I suggest you to use them with adjustable rockers, casue is the only proper way.

I must say that I have been using them with no adjustable rockers and they are noisy as hell!! Many problems with them (personal experience).

You either need adjustable rockers(preferred) or short pushrods. I would suggest getting a set of Morels instead.

Okay, im going to go with the adjustable 1.7s,but i would like to reuse my TR 7.4 pushrods. How do i make sure that the preload spec is right? Im assuming there will be detailed instructions with the rockers.

Yeah the rockers will have instructions, basically you will adjust the rocker to zero lash and then turn the adjuster enough so that you get your specified preload.

There is no way you can get that accurate the preload that Comps suggest!! In fact, Comps suggest that you have to preload them with a 1/4 of a turn, this based on the adjustable nut. This would be a cold adjustment, becase more or less, every 1/4 of turn is like 0.012-0.015 in of preload, and there you fall within Comp specs. The best thing would to adjust the whole deal when the engine is warm, because there, you will have all the lifters filled, they are not going to get empty, so, you get more accurate adjusment. "I" would say you, to adjust 1/8 of a turn when the engine is warm.

mmm!! Yup!! I heard the same comments from some people!! I guess is all about luck

Where I live is at 8,000 ft over sea level, or 11,000 DA I have been thinking abou the altitude being a factor!!Not sure.

Ive heard nothing but bad things about these lifters for the past couple of years..I wouldnt get em. Get the caddy racing lifters..I think they are the same price but MUCH better quality.
