Bad news camaro story
I just bought a 1998 Camaro z28 with 46,700 org. miles. I picked it up yesterday about half hour away from my house. I was driveing it home and about half way home the car died. I was driveing about 30mph and the car started to bogg and just stopped responding and wouldnt start again. I had to push the car to the side of the road and have it towed home. Today me and my 2 friends replaced the fuel filter and checked the relay. The fuel filter was clogged and the relay was working fine. I am pretty sure its the Fuel pump because the car clicks when i try to start it but doesnt turn over and the fuel filter no longer comes. Does any one have any ideas what else it could be?

I would start with checking the battery and or the charging system. Roger

already checked the relay by switching it with the one for the horn and the relay is fine....also forgot to say i think its the fuel pump becuase there is no pressure in the fuel rail...took the cap off the fuel rail and pushed in the valve stem and nothing came out

If the fuel filter was clogged then it would be a good idea to drop the tank, rinse and clean it a few times before installing a new pump. If the tank is rusted inside then it is time to replace it.

If a car clicks but does not turn over you could have a dead battery regardless of how old it is. Try checking the voltage with the headlights on high beam for a couple of minutes.
Remove the battery and fully charge it. Then try starting the car again. If it starts its the charging system. If it turns over, but, does not start then look elsewhere. If on your fully charged battery it clicks then the starter is bad(this is the least likely because it does not explain the car dying).
Don't get ahead of yourself or you will be spending money on parts you don't need.

Are you sure that you have gas in the vehicle? Your sending unit could be out, hence no fuel. Plus its almost a normal thing to check. I had a woman sell me a Jeep for $250, said it didn't run. Thing was out of gas, virtually free Jeep. Resold it for what I paid to a friend of mine. Its nice to check out all other possibilities as well.
If your battery is dead and died on the road your Alternator wouldn't be working properly, if its a battery issue thats also something to check out. Though if you checked your fuel pump relay by swapping it with the horn that tells me you have voltage to beep your horn..
