Default Installing Cam at the end of the Month

I am driving down to Houston to see Chuck @ HPE. He wants to put in the S cam on my 04 m6. I currently have 1 7/8 Kooks, Kooks Catless Mids, Corsa Sport, Hardcore CAI, 160 Tstat, MSD wires, Billet Shifter, SLP Diablo Tune. I really am not sure what cam I should go with. This is my DD and will not see that track but once a month at most. I have heard with a good tune the S cam has good manners. Do I want to go smaller?? 228 or C cam?? 112 or 114 lsa.

Thanks

I have talked with chuck many times on myspace some was car some not. he seems like a real good guy and seems to know his stuff and have a good bit of experience. What size is the S cam. I daily drive a AZPS03 cam. it's a large in the 240's duration on a 111lsa. I have no problem with it, but I can also put up with alot in my street car compared to others. Any cam can be daily driven, it's up to the driver if he can put up with it daily. it's all personal preference so you have to tell us what you think is a street car and race car where the line is drawn

HPE S Cam (238/240, 112 LSA .605/.609) with Spring kit and Trick Flow Pushrods.

I have been leaning toward a 228/228 but Chuck said I would like the S Cam better. After reading this thread am not so sure. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ight=shops+cam

If you are staying stock heads, then the S cam car should beat a 228 cam car. That said I've put a TSP 228 in my 98 SS, I have yet to get the motor in the car so I have no idea what it is like. I picked it because at the time I had my goat with a large cam and a MS4 cammed WS6. So I wanted a small cam car. I imagine a 228 cam will make a large improvement over stock. But it might leave you wishing you would have went bigger. Tuning these days is awesome. My MS4 drove perfect no not exactly as stock but no complaints you would have never known the cam was that big until you heard it idle. I also usually say go big because I absolutley love a nasty lopey idle. if your not already a member you should go over to ls1gto.com it's a good place for gto info.

Talk to Ed at Flowtech about what you want to achieve. I have a custom ground hellfire TQ in mine and it is great for daily driving. IMO you would not want anything more than this cam. The specs are on their website. Changed sig to show what mods I have but it is not showing up I do not think.

for an LS1 daily driver id suggest a smaller cam than an S-cam. i have a 231/234 cam in the LS2 and i have no complaints. if your looking for 400rwhp than the S cam is the way to go. if you dont mind a solid 385-390 than perhaps a C cam or something similar might be in order. personally i like the street manners of a smaller cam, then later on if your unhappy with the performance add some heads and an intake and your up in the 430whp range. if it werent a daily driver, id say go big or go home, but from experience im glad i went the rout i did.

As I stated before, I talked to Flowtech and described what I wanted out of the H/C package. He built a package around that information.
