Cadillac CTS-V - 2nd gen. V.... any guess on power/drivetrain

Well, with the latest release/rumor of the actual production blue devil for 2009, which will be powered by a, though i hate the fact the GM is using a power-adder,..... a blown 6.2 ls3; do anyone here believe that this is the motor that will power the fabled the next gen. super v?

However, more importantly, I can only assume that they have learned their lesson and might actually put a drivetrain that will function properly. The rear will most likely be the up and coming g8/camaro rear irs. It should be built on the same global chassis.

So, with all of this up in the air, what do ya'll think might happen?

Will there be two trim levels for the V? A standard ls3 equiped 430ish crank hp and than a shout 550hp super-v?

Honestly, maybe even a ls7 in a V wouldn't be a bad idea. I would somewhat prefer it over the blown 6.2 since its n/a. However, i read that the ls7 will get discontinued so, if that is true, to bad. Nice motor.

Anyways, lets hear it!! Anyone wanta talk cams? :)

I think the new CTS is lighter than the old one... and I think the LS7 makes more TQ than the LS2 and LS6. JMO

I can attest to the LS7 torque in a V.

From 360 @ 2000 to 400 @ 2600 to a max of 446.81 @ 5000, remaining well above 400 until 6200, and all of this while breathing through the stock MAF and intake tube and exhausting through cats. A flat, fat curve indeed.

As far as i know the V is getting an ls8, blown 6.2, making 550ish and will be offered with either a 6L90e or the new tremec 6 speed. I don't know about the rear.

LS8???? no such beast. The blown 6.2L is known as the LS9.

No there is such a beast and I look at it every day at work, since we are working on the 2nd gen V right now. Its a low output version of the ls9.

IMO, I hoped that GM kept the N/A theme for their high=per. motors, however, i'm assuming that it's more cost productive to use a blower than to get thay much power out of an N/A motor.

thanks... I'm assuming you cannot say any more right? :)

No can't say to much more because I like my job, but it will have an all new rear-end and I may have seen some paper work on a 2-door coupe.

I just saw my first Gen II CTS. It is absolutely beautiful. That may be the finest product that an american car manufacturer has produced...ever.

I have been saying this since day one. Forced induction with over 500 hp, available with an automatic priced under 60k.

Good info, thanks.

if ur beater wasn't literally 3 inches off the ground, i'd have flipped u the keys awhile ago... and the day i get 50 horse from an intake is the day an S4 is more pimp than a V ... hehe

find a money spot to work on some drifting and i'm there

I think the new 08 bodies arent that good looking. it's so much more rounded and looks like it's for old people.

Are you serious?

Have you seen them in person? I have seen about 30 or soo...and in my opinion(everyone is entitled to your own).....they look great. And,...if they do come out with a V...I think...judging by what they have now,..it'll look proper. As long as they have a proper size tire...possibly more exagerated fenders(lke the C6 Z06)...

I was driving home from work last friday, and was behind a new one. They really got at least the rear end right. The GenI's are too narrow looking. The GenII's are nice and beefy width wise. It looks real nice. Now about those fender vents....:eyes:

I can;t wait to see the V version. I have a feeling it is going to be just sick looking (and not :barf:)

I'm with you, although I admit it it is a good looking car, but so is the current generation whose "edginess" I prefer. If I had to trade my "V" on an '08 for the exterior styling alone, I'll pass. I'll be damned if I give them my pristeen "baby" and another 30 or 40 grand for another "V". I can do a hell of a lot of modding to my current V for that money! And I can do without those God-awful side vents that so many current models are going with. What's with them? I thought we got rid of them years ago.
