Default 4L80E swap is complete !!

Got the car back last night from Overkill Motorsports who did my 4L60E->4L80E swap !

New Edge Racing 3200 stall converter, 4L80E, Speedtech harness, 4L80E tables loaded into the HPT tune, and new yoke on the driveshaft are all complete !

Drove it home last night, it definately has a different set of manners and sounds than the '60 did and will take some getting used to but I can already tell it's ready to get down and boogie !

The thing I've noticed the most so far is that my tune is way rich, ~15%. Could be some loose intercooler piping somewhere but my guess is that the higher resistance from the new trans is loading the engine up a little more and it will need to be leaned out a little in the MAF table. I'm logging and working on that today. There is a slight power loss expected with the 80, and I can feel a slight power loss in the low part-throttle range but I'm wondering how much of it at this point is the tune. I'll be able to tell better when the tune is straightened out. It's still making GOBS of power, and will light the Nittos up pretty easily anywhere through the first three gears.

Other than all that it drives great ! Maybe now I'll actually be able to floor it a few times without breaking half my drivetrain !

Cheers,

Great to hear, I have plans of installing one myself this winter. Atleast I know my trans will never take a dump on me after the 80 is in!

It's a low mileage OEM out of a wrecked truck. It was gone through and the fluid was very clear and there was very little dust in the bottom of the pan.

Thats cool that you are using a stock trans hopefully it lasts a long time and if it does that will let us know what kind of punishment these trannys can take. Btw do you take the car to the track alot?

Not frequently, but I will take it to the track a few times when I get it all running good, I'm sure ! I've been dying to !

This has been a two year build between buying the blower/heads/shortblock and tuning and breaking the trans (again) and Torsen.

I'll post some feedback after I get it all tuned up and make some passes.
